"everyone is downstream from somebody else"

Day 2 included a visit to NeWater where wastewater is recycled to become drinkable water (I drank a bottle and didn"t die). After customary wastewater treatment, the water comes to NeWater where it is super-filtered, goes thru reverse osmosis and then treated with UV light.
The finished product 45 min. later is drinkable water used for industry or added back to reservoirs.

Singapore is without large lakes or rivers--yet citizens consume 300 million gallons of water daily. Currently 4 arms of water management exist: local catchment of rainwater, desalinated water, NewWater, and purchased water. Agressive and successful steps are being taken to become independent of the need to purchase most of the water needed.

On the way to the facility, Ciara pointed out this Collared Kingfisher in the trees above Tanh Merah station. This was my first native/regional--not introduced bird seen.
